The final podium.

The cool September winds were not the ideal racing conditions and unfortunately it resulted in a low turnout. The Senior light class had only three drivers: Jared, Rob MacLeod and 2005 rookie Lina Gallant. The team was looking to redeem themselves after a disappointing Pro Kart race two weeks before.

Meade started the first heat on the outside pole with Gallant to his inside. Gallant got the hole shot on the green flag but was unable to hang on in the first corner. The #8 kart slid across the track and Jared was forced to back off. MacLeod moved to the inside. The field left turn one three wide but only two of them were facing the right direction. MacLeod was able to pull away in the following laps and Jared was only able to follow as he finished in the second position.

The second heat started much the same as the first heat. However Gallant was able to not spin, she did lose a lot of momentum in the first corner. Jared and Rob were able to pull away but again Jared could not match the speed of the speeding #5.

People were feeling deja-vieu as thew watched the start of the third heat. Entering turn one, the pole sitter spun and clipped the nose of the #43 kart. The front wheels lifted off of the ground and the kart spun half way around. Jared was facing the wrong direction on the track until the front end of his kart landed. Jared turned the kart around and salvaged a second place finish but it was obvious that some damage was done not only to the kart, but to Jared himself. The kart would not handle no matter what he did and he was not comfortable behind the wheel

Luckily, the wind had just been knocked from the driver of the #43 kart. A quick rest and drink of water solved that problem but there was not enough time to repair the kart. The team entered the feature all but sure that they would finish second so Jared just had to keep the kart on the track. That was easier said than done. The nature of the damage made the kart very unpredictable but Meade was able to hang on and indeed, finish the race in second position.
