The MKR team was once again greeted by rainy skies as they rolled into the paddock. With new rain tires, the team stood a chance as finding a setup unlike the Pro Kart race the week before. It still took some time to get a decent setup worked out but as the morning wore on, the handling steadily improved. Jared also played with lines until he settled that the high line would be the best way to get through the day. The team got a scare when Jaredís search for a line turned ugly with a meeting with a tire barrier outside of turn one. Jared was unhurt and drove the undamaged kart back to the pits.
Jared drew the 4th starting position for the first heat of the season and moved into second coming out of turn three with a small excursion to avoid a slower kart. The kart drove well and Jared finished in second place.
The #43 kart started the second heat third. The start did not go as well as he got knocked around in the first few turns but eventually got up into second place and held it for the duration of the race.
The third heat started once again in third place and that it where the kart finished. Jared got caught behind slower traffic making it very difficult to pass.
The team was looking for more speed going into the feature. A gear change was made and the kart rolled off of the grid on the outside pole. It was soon realized that the team made the wrong adjustment and Jared was left behind by the leaders. Jared kept the kart in third place and that is where the team finished.
